FAQS

Are Pip Lancets good for kids?

Yes! While Pip lancets aren’t labeled as pediatric-only, they were thoughtfully designed with kids in mind.

Children tend to have more sensitive fingertips, so we removed the most painful parts of traditional lancets—using smaller needles, shallower depth, and a fully enclosed design with no exposed needle. That means less pain, less fear, and a much safer experience for little hands.

Parents tell us all the time: Pip makes fingersticks way easier for their kids—and that’s exactly why we made it.

Are Pip products covered by insurance?

Great question—and honestly, what most people are really asking is: how much will this cost me?

At Pip, we don’t bill insurance. Instead, we keep things simple with one clear, upfront price—no hidden fees, no surprise copays. In many cases, we’re actually more affordable than what you’d pay for an “insurance-covered” brand after copays and deductibles.

The good news: Pip products are covered by most FSA and HSA plans, and we accept FSA/HSA cards right on our website.

If you’d like to check with your insurance provider directly, feel free to share our receipt or UPC code from your purchase (online or in-store) to ask about reimbursement. But the bottom line? You don’t need a prior authorization or paperwork to get started with Pip.

Can Pip Lancets be used more than once?

Nope—Pip lancets are designed for one-time use only.

Each lancet is preloaded with a single-use needle that retracts instantly after use. That means:

  • You can’t reuse it—even by accident
  • You always get a clean, sharp needle for every test
  • There’s no risk of cross-contamination or dull needles

Reusing lancets (even traditional ones) can lead to more pain, less reliable blood samples, and higher risk of infection. Pip takes the guesswork out—just one click and toss.

One stick, one use, done.

What is the difference between the different colors?

The color of Pip Lancets designate:
1) the size of the needle and
2) the length of the needle.

If you do not already know which size you'd prefer, we recommend starting with Blue Pip Lancets. Blue is the smallest, shortest needles and is the most comfortable for most people.

If you find that you need more blood, then you should try Purple next and then Orange - which is for individuals that have thicker skin.

Note that you'll receive an assortment of all the sizes when you get the Starter pack

How do I dispose of Pip Lancets?

Since Pip lancets contain a sharp, they should be disposed of in a proper sharps container—just like any other single-use medical device.

That said, we’ve designed Pip to be safer than traditional lancets. The needle is fully enclosed before and after use, so there’s no exposed sharp. That means there’s no risk of accidental pokes if you need to hold onto it for a bit.

If you're on the go or don’t have a sharps container handy, just keep the used lancet in a safe place and toss it properly when you do. You can find affordable sharps containers at most pharmacies—or use any FDA-cleared, puncture-resistant container with a secure lid.

Simple, safe, and no stress.

Do I need a separate lancing device to use Pip lancets?

Nope—Pip lancets are fully self-contained. There’s no extra lancing device to load, carry, clean, or fumble with.

Each Pip lancet is pre-engineered with the needle inside—you just twist off the cap, press it against your fingertip, and you're done. It clicks once, retracts instantly, and you toss it. No spring. No reset. No stress.

Here’s why that matters:

  • Fewer steps every time you test
  • Fewer supplies to buy, carry, or replace
  • A clean, brand-new needle every time—no reusing, no guessing
  • Smaller, safer, and more portable than bulky lancing devices
  • Engineered for consistent depth and comfort, with no exposed needle ever

Pip was built to take the pain (literally and figuratively) out of fingersticks—especially for those who’ve struggled with traditional setups. Once you try it, you’ll never go back.

How do I use Pip lancets?

Pip lancets are designed to make testing quick, simple, and nearly painless—no lancing device needed. Just press and go.

Here’s how to use them:
1. Wash and dry your hands with warm soap and water, or use an alcohol prep pad to clean the area you plan to test. Dry your hands completely.

2. Insert your test strip into your meter before using the lancet. This ensures your meter is ready to read your blood sample right away.

3. Twist (don’t pull!) off the white cap of your Pip lancet. You should feel the cap come off easily with a twist. If it resists, just twist a little further—no force needed. Pulling can damage the device and keep it from working properly.

4. Press the lancet firmly against the side of your fingertip. You’ll hear a quick click—that’s the lancet doing its job and instantly retracting. (We recommend using the sides of your fingertip, where there are fewer nerve endings for a more comfortable experience.)

5. Apply the drop of blood to your test strip, and you're done.

6. Dispose of the used lancet safely. Pip lancets are single-use and contain a sharp, so they should go into a proper sharps container. **But don’t worry—unlike traditional lancets, the needle is fully enclosed after use, so there’s no risk of accidental pokes while you hang onto it.** If you don’t have a sharps container nearby, just hold onto it and discard it properly when you do.

Pip makes fingersticks easier, cleaner, and way less stressful—especially if you’re new to testing or just tired of the old way.

Are Pip lancets compatible with other brand glucose meters and test strips?

Yes! Pip lancets are designed to help you get a clean, reliable blood drop—and they work with any glucose meter and test strip on the market.

That includes all the major brands, like:

  • Accu-Chek® (Guide, Aviva, Instant)
  • OneTouch® (Verio, Ultra, Reflect)
  • FreeStyle® (Lite, Precision Neo)
  • Contour® Next
  • True Metrix®
  • ReliOn®
  • And many others

If your current meter uses a standard fingerstick blood sample, Pip lancets will work—no special device needed.

‼️ Just a heads-up: Pip test strips are only compatible with the Pip meter. So if you're using our strips, be sure to pair them with the Pip glucometer for accurate results.

Whether you're using Pip lancets with your existing setup or switching to the full Pip system, we're here to make testing as simple (and painless) as possible.
